Ring resizing in Swindon
Rings resized up or down by hand, at the bench, here in Swindon. From £95, and usually back with you inside a week.
Send us a photo and we’ll tell you what’s possible and what it’ll cost before you commit to anything.
What it costs
Ring resizing starts at £95. What you’ll pay depends on three things: the metal, how many sizes it’s moving, and whether there are stones near where we’re working.
How long it takes
Most straightforward resizes are done within a week. Bring it in at the start of the week and it’s usually ready by the end of it.
If stones need taking out and resetting, or the band needs rebuilding rather than just adjusting, allow a bit longer. You’ll know the timescale when you get your quote, not after.
Got a wedding or a proposal coming up? [TO CONFIRM — Tell us when you get in touch. We can usually work around a date if there’s enough notice.]

Which rings can be resized, and which can’t
Most plain and stone set rings resize without any trouble. Some don’t, and it’s better to know now.
-
Usually straightforward: plain bands in gold, silver and platinum. Solitaires. Rings with stones across the top only. Most signet rings.
-
Possible, but more involved: rings with stones running part way down the shoulders. Very thin or worn bands, which may need building up first. Rings that have already been resized more than once.
-
Generally can’t be resized: full eternity rings, where the stones go the whole way round. Titanium, tungsten and stainless steel, which can’t be worked the same way. Tension set rings,
If yours falls into that last group there are usually other options, like [sizing beads, a fitted insert, or remaking the ring in the same metal]. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you straight which one applies.

How it’s done
- Making a ring smaller: we take a section out of the bottom of the band, bring the ends together and solder them, then file and polish the join back. Done properly you won’t see where it was.
- Making a ring bigger: we add a matching piece of metal into the band. For small adjustments we can sometimes stretch it instead, though only within limits and only on the right sort of ring.
Either way we check the ring over while it’s on the bench, including the claws, the settings and any thinning in the band, and we’ll tell you if something else needs doing. We won’t do any work you haven’t agreed to.
